iOS 27 Update: New AI features discovered for Wallet, Safari, Contacts
Newly discovered backend code reveals Apple’s plans for iOS 27. In order to catch up with Android, the company is bringing new AI functions to the iPhone. In the future, printed business cards will also go directly into the address book via camera.

For the iOS 27 operating system, expected in June at the WWDC 2026 developer conference, Apple is planning at least four new functions in the Apple Intelligence area. Evidence of deeper integrations into system apps was found in server-side code. The update is intended to reduce the gap compared to Android systems in artificial intelligence.
In the background, the group is developing new hardware such as networked glasses and headphones with cameras. This requires precise image recognition, which Apple bundles under the name Visual Intelligence. The backend code that has emerged reveals four specific innovations for the upcoming iPhone operating system.
News for Health
A nutritional scanner uses visual intelligence to record the ingredients of food and transfers the data to the health app. The camera can also read telephone numbers printed on business cards and save them directly in the address book. With a new wallet import, physical admission tickets or membership cards can be scanned and converted into digital passes. The Safari browser is supposed to automatically name tab groups based on the topics of the opened web pages using artificial intelligence.

Complex AI tools are often only released with later updates.
Since names can still vary internally, the exact processes have so far been based on interpretations by the developers. The software innovations are expected to appear at the same time as new hardware such as the iPhone 18 Pro and the speculated iPhone Fold. At the same time, Apple is working on a significantly expanded version of the voice assistant Siri. An advantage for users could be local data processing directly on the device.
