Huawei To Offer Google Apps Via Its Own App Gallery
Huawei is mulling to offer important Google apps for its smartphone users to download via AppGallery in the future. According to a similar approach, Google makes the programs actually developed for Android available in the Apple App Store.
After almost a year, the US government continues to impose sanctions on the Chinese manufacturer Huawei. Above all, the cooperation with Google, which was prevented by the country, hits the group and its smartphone community hard. Newly introduced models have always had to do without important Google apps and the Play Store, which is essentially required for users. In the wake of the trade dispute between the USA and China, an end to the sanctions is not yet considered, but Huawei is considering an alternative distribution channel for Maps, Gmail and Others.
PlayStore remains out
In an interview with colleagues from CNBC, Huawei manager Eric Xu sees a way to accommodate Google’s apps in the recently launched in-house AppGallery. ” We hope that the Google services will be made available through our AppGallery, just as Google offers its services through the Apple App Store, ” said Xu. So far it is unclear whether one can exploit a gray area or block the US government under President Donald Trump.
Huawei P40 Pro Hits Record At DxOMark Scoring
It remains a wishful thought of Huawei and Google to initiate cooperation that goes beyond the Android Open Source Project. In February, Google announced that the U.S. administration had received an application asking for an exemption to continue working with Huawei. So far, however, it has not been communicated whether this was approved, rejected or simply put on the back burner. The Android flagship Huawei P40 Pro, which will be available from May, must, therefore, do without the popular Google apps.
