A foldable phone in flip design, the Nubia Flip 5G, is under development
In 2024, more companies are expected to debut their foldable smartphones. Reportedly, Nubia is one of them, as indicated by a fresh report. Some previous reports indicate that the company will debut the Nubia Z60 Fold, a horizontally foldable smartphone similar to the OnePlus Open and the Galaxy Z Flip 5. Besides this, the company might be working on another device named the Nubia Flip 5G.
Nubia Flip 5G was spotted in the IMEI database
Apparently, the name and the model number of the smartphone were spotted in the GSMA IMEI database by GSMChina. Well, this is clearly an indication of the company’s first flip-style foldable phone. Notably, there are currently no details about the features of the upcoming smartphone. Furthermore, there is no precise word on when the Nubia Flip 5G will ship. Whether it has an under-display camera like the company’s most recent flagships is still to be determined.
Nubia is not the only company that will debut its first vertically foldable smartphone next year. Honor and Xiaomi are also expected to offer their first vertically foldable smartphones next year. The Xiaomi MIX Flip is reported to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset; however, there are no details about the SoC of the Honor Magic Flip. Some reports suggest that the Honor Magic Flip will pack a 4,500mAh dual-cell battery. It will be the largest battery size for a flip-style foldable smartphone. The Magic Flip is expected to arrive in Q1 of 2024, whereas the MIX Flip might debut in Q2 of next year.
On the other hand, Nubia is expected to launch the Nubia Z60 Fold in Q1 2024. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Besides this, there are no further details about the features of the Nubia Z60 Fold. Recently, Nubia debuted the Nubia Z60 Ultra flagship with a price tag of 4,299 Yuan. It features a UDC, 24 GB of LPDDR5x RAM, 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage, a 6,000mAh battery with 80W charging, 50MP triple cameras, and is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.
