A new Pixel mode helps safeguard your data while your device is being repaired

Google recently unveiled the latest feature for pixel devices that is designed to protect the data on your device while it’s in repair mode. As stated by the company, by activating this latest feature, you might be able to prevent technicians from removing and restoring your data during the repair process. Along with that, it’ll make the problem’s diagnosis easier. This feature will also protect your data from being stolen.

This latest feature is available on Android 14, along with a free space of 2GB. To activate this feature, head to Settings > System> Repair Mode. You can follow the same steps to deactivate the feature. Google Notes also protects your data during repair mode. Other than that, it is always beneficial to back up your data before giving it to your device for repair.

There is another diagnostic app launched by Google that is accessible through the Pixel device phone app. This app will give you an overview of any issue affecting your device before you can give it away for repair. Also, it’ll check if your device is properly working during the diagnosis. For running a diagnosis on your device, you can dial this code #*#7287#*# in the dial pad of your phone app.

Through this app, not only will it be easier for repair shops to diagnose the issue, but it’ll also help users remove the issue from their devices. The company has already proceeded to introduce legitimate Pixel parts as well as repair manuals via iFixit during the last year. Through the Google Help site, you can find all the information you need about ordering device parts, along with repair manuals. These repair manuals are available in English as well as in French. These manuals will be available in more languages in the coming months.
