A potential leak suggests a new PS5 controller with longer-lasting batteries
What if we tell you that you can access a new version of the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller? Yes, you read it right. The new version of the controller was spotted on the Best Buy Canada website. According to the details, the controller has been listed with the name “PlayStation 5 V2 DualSense Wireless Controller, White.” It is priced at CAD 89, the same price as the original controller. Fascinatingly, the device can’t be ordered and there is no mention of a release date.
The images of the new version of the controller appear similar to those of the current DualSense. However, the listing indicates that the new version has several internal modifications. The new controller features adaptive triggers, a microphone, and haptic feedback, but with slight modifications.
The advertisement promises an “exceptional 12-hour battery life on a full charge” and an “easy click-in charging” “charging station,” which is a significant improvement over the existing controller’s 5–6 hours of battery life. This would greatly lessen the need for frequent charging, especially for users of the DualSense Edge controller, which uses a lot of batteries.
There has been no official word from the company regarding this leak. It could be a mistake at Best Buy’s end or an inaccurate listing. So, take this information with a grain of salt. Besides this, several rumors regarding a PlayStation State of Play event scheduled for January surfaced in the past. The rumors suggest that the company could announce a new model of DualSense at such an event.
Sony has not yet responded, so PlayStation fans can only hope that the leak is accurate and that a more durable DualSense controller is imminent. In addition to this, nine new games have been added by Sony for members of PlayStation Plus Extra. These games will be available on January 16th.
