A rumor suggests that Vision Pro 2 will feature brighter and more efficient displays

We have some details about the Vision Pro 2 from a recent report published by market research firm Omdia. Reportedly, the Vision Pro 2 will be equipped with advanced micro-OLED displays that will feature high brightness and improved efficiency. According to reports, the company intends to use an RGB OLEDoS display for Vision Pro. Reportedly, the company will adopt this approach at some point in 2027. If this information is correct, then it will be a significant upgrade to WOLED with the color filter used in the Vision Pro’s first generation.

With RGB OLEDoS technology, the requirement of a color filter is eliminated since it relies on RGB sub-pixels stacked on a single layer to produce light and color directly. As a result, it procures high brightness. In contrast, the WOLED and color-filter OLEDoS displays work by filtering white light through an RGB color layer. In comparison to color filters and WOLED technologies, it is also noticeably more efficient.

When it comes to RGB OLEDoS display suppliers, Samsung is the only company since it acquired eMargin early this year. If Samsung continues with its efforts, then it can take over Sony’s lead as the main provider of Vision Pro displays. The Omdia report mentions the same time frame for the Vision Pro 2 launch, as indicated by Ming-Chi Kuo. According to him, it’s probable that the Vision Pro won’t receive any hardware improvements until then. There are rumors that Apple intends to release a less expensive headset as early as 2025, although it’s unclear if these plans are still in the works.
