Activision Blizzard Unveils Overwatch 2 in more detail

Blizzard has the free online shooter Overwatch 2 at an unveil event again extensively presented. Overwatch 2 will be released in the fall as a so-called live experience and will then bring multiple heroes with a new PvP mode. Blizzard now has an animated short dedicated to the Junker Queen.

Seasonal updates, no loot boxes

Overwatch 2 will start its first season on October 4. Unlike its predecessor, Overwatch 2 is free-to-play. Extras are offered through a Battle Pass and in an in-game store. However, there will be no controversial loot boxes in Overwatch 2. In addition, Blizzard relies on a seasonal model, which regularly provides players with new content at nine-week intervals. Season 1 introduces the new 5v5 PvP experience, additional skins, six new maps, and three brand new heroes.

Sojourn and the Junker Queen have already been revealed, and Blizzard is looking to introduce another support hero soon. Blizzard tells the backstory of the Junker Queen in the usual extended animated short film “The Wastelander”, in which the heroine, who has not fallen flat on her lips, takes on the Junker King and his henchmen in the arena.

The beta test starts in a few days

In three additional videos, the developers talk about the renewed PvP experience and seasonal content and give an overview of many further innovations in Overwatch 2. Overwatch 2 is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. In addition to cross-play across all platforms, the game also supports cross-progression. All unlocked or purchased content and progress are therefore available on all platforms. A beta test for Overwatch 2 will start on June 28.
