After Amazon and Sony confirmed there absence from the Mobile World Congress MWC 2020 Barcelona, yesterday Intel has also joined the league. Intel confirmed on Tuesday that the company will not be attending the MWC 2020 which is scheduled to take place on Feb 24, this 4-day event will miss another tech giant due to the growing threat of Coronavirus.
The latest report suggests that Coronavirus could possibly affect 60% of the world population if it’s not controlled on an immediate basis. The United Kingdom’s Health Department has also declared an emergency and classed Coronavirus as a serious threat to public health.
According to a spokesperson of Intel in a response to an email, “Wellbeing and the safety of our partners, employees, customers and all that are involved in our company directly or indirectly is our top priority; we have decided to cancel our presence at MWC 2020 in an abundance of caution.”
Not only Intel but also Vivo and MediaTek also announced to pull out from MWC 2020 lately.
According to the latest figures, the total number of deaths recorded at the time of writing on February 11 at 11:10 GMT were 1018 and the total number of affected people with this virus reached 43,138. Coronavirus is indeed a global threat that the companies are now taking seriously, the list of tech giants is growing that have pulled out of MWC 2020.
