AI update for Galaxy S24 is on the way

Attentive owners of the Samsung Galaxy S24 and its sister models noticed it a little earlier, but now it’s official: Samsung is delivering One UI version 6.1.1 to countless devices. The update primarily brings the in-house Galaxy AI to the Korean electronics giant’s smartphones and tablets, meaning that various AI functions are landing on the devices.

The announcement of the start of sales for Samsung One UI 6.1.1 on other devices – Samsung’s latest foldables already come with it ex works – was made during Samsung’s press conference today at IFA 2024 in Berlin. The Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra are now being supplied with it in various countries. However, the rollout will not take place at the same time in all countries, so it is currently only available in South Korea before other markets follow.

The update package for Samsung One UI 6.1.1 based on Android 14 is around 2.8 gigabytes in size and already contains the security patch for September 2024. Devices with the appropriate hardware will be upgraded with the AI ​​features that premiered with the foldables. This includes “Sketch To Image”, which can be used to create an AI-generated image from a simple sketch that the user makes with their fingers or a stylus.

The “Portrait Studio” function, which is also new, generates new images in different styles from the user’s photos on request. Also new is a function for quickly and easily adding written input. Samsung is also introducing extensive and impressively powerful translation functions that can be used to translate foreign languages ​​live in real time in various apps.
