All about Apple iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max in Pakistan
Apple is considered to be the Rolls Royce of smartphones because of their premium cutting-edge products. The Apple iPhones are inarguably the most valuable product line offered by the company and each reiteration comes with its own enhanced user experience. Last week, Apple announced the 3 latest additions to its iPhone series in the form of the iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max.
Apple iPhone XR:
The Apple iPhone XR is the budget (in Apple terms) iPhone for 2018. The focus of Apple with the iPhone XR is to enable wider audiences to experience the premier feel and features of the iPhone. Speaking realistically though, the iPhone XR costs no less than a fortune when you compare it with flagships from most of the other smartphone brands (excluding Samsung). The iPhone XR will set you back $749 for the 64 GB model.
Despite being the ‘budget’ model though, the iPhone XR does not miss out on anything. The iPhone XR comes with the new and improved Apple A12 Bionic chipset with a hexa-core processor and a quad-core GPU. The Apple A12 Bionic chipset is a powerhouse and it is expected to ace through all benchmark scores making the Apple iPhone XR one of the most powerful smartphones of 2018-19 (in terms of performance). As for the camera, there are single shooters on the back and front but these promises to deliver the same excellent image quality as we are accustomed to with previous iPhones. Though the camera will not be as remarkable as that on the iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max since they have the additional telephoto camera lens on board.
In terms of features and design, the iPhone XR is a mix of the iPhone X and the iPhone 8 with a notched 6.1-inch display on the front but a single camera set up on the back with an aluminum frame. There is no fingerprint scanner (Touch ID) so you will have to do with the Face ID. As for charging, Apple has added support for both fast charging and wireless charging for the iPhone XR.
The major difference between the iPhone XR and the other two versions is the display technology. The Apple iPhone XR makes use of an IPS LCD display while the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max make use of a Super AMOLED display which offers better contrast, improved battery life, and an enhanced viewing experience. The IPS LCD display on the iPhone XR is similar to the ones that you will find in the iPhone 7 or iPhone 8.
Apple iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max:
Apple has not looked to innovate much with the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max primarily because these are ‘S’ versions which are meant for minor improvements and fixes. Apple has also been mocked by the rivals for keeping the things the same for the latest iPhone 2018 models, but that is something competitors always do. From a bird’s-eye view, these are almost the same as the Apple iPhone X, barring the improved chipset and battery life. The Apple iPhone XS is expected to cost $999 for the 64 GB model while the iPhone XS Max is expected to cost around $1099 for the 64 GB model.
The Apple iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max both come with a similar notched design that we are now accustomed to with a dual-camera setup on the back and a true-tone Super AMOLED display. Both the Apple iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max feature the improved Apple A12 Bionic chipset with a quad-core GPU which are expected to ace through all performance tests. The dual-camera setup on the back has the same sensors as that of the Apple iPhone X but will now be able to process photographs much quicker and fine-tune them with AI thanks to the improved A12 chipset. In terms of performance and camera, you can expect the best from the Apple iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.
The major differences between the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are the battery and screen size. The iPhone XS has the same screen size i.e. 5.8-inches as the iPhone X and comes with a 2658mAh battery which is expected to give up to 30 minutes of added battery time as compared to the iPhone X. On the other hand, the iPhone XS Max is the largest iPhone to date with a sizeable 6.5-inch screen that makes it the first phablet-sized iPhone. As for the battery, the iPhone XS Max is packed with a generous 3174mAh battery that is expected to last 1 hour and 30 minutes more than that of the iPhone X.
One other notable feature is the dual-sim eSim support in the iPhone XS which makes it the first iPhone to support dual-sim functionality. The issue here is that in Pakistan, none of the mobile service providers support eSim yet and therefore, we will not be able to use the dual-sim functionality on the Apple iPhone XS.
The Apple iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are expected to arrive in the market around 21st September whereas the iPhone XR will be released almost a month later towards the end of October. The smartphones are already available for preorder in Pakistan though. You can find out more information about their price and availability on Pakistanistores.
