The movie has such big names like Elijah Wood, Viggo Mortensen, Ian McKellen, Liv Tyler and Orlando Bloom, Peter Jackson’s that it earned almost $3 billion globally. Also, the movie won 17 Oscars.

Then ‘The Hobbit’ was produced just a couple of years back which again made an almost same score at the box office. Now Amazon reproducing it as a series has made people excited. Amazon has confirmed that the series will be available via the Prime Video app or online in almost 200 countries but when? The release date is not announced yet.

Matt Galsor, a representative for the Tolkien Estate and Trust and HarperCollins said, “We are delighted that Amazon, with its longstanding commitment to literature, is the home of the first-ever multi-season television series for ‘The Lord of the Rings. Sharon and the team at Amazon Studios have exceptional ideas to bring to the screen previously unexplored stories based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s original writings.”
