Amazon Music Unlimited Raises Prices to Match Spotify

Amazon Music Unlimited is increasing its subscription prices, bringing them in line with Spotify’s plans. Individual subscribers will now pay $1 more per month, while family plan users will see a $3 hike. According to multiple Reddit users (1, 2), Amazon has started notifying subscribers about the change.

New Pricing Details

  • Individual Plan: Previously $10.99/month, now $11.99 — matching Spotify’s rate.
  • Prime Member Discounted Plan: Increased from $9.99/month to $10.99/month.
  • Family Plan: Jumped from $16.99/month to $19.99/month.
  • Annual Plan (Family): Increased from $169/year to $199/year.

For new subscribers, these prices are already in effect. Existing members, however, can enjoy their current rates until March 5, 2025.

What Does Amazon Music Unlimited Offer?

Amazon Music Unlimited provides more than just music streaming. Subscribers get access to over 100 million ad-free songs, podcasts, and audiobooks. The service also supports spatial and lossless audio for those with compatible devices, offering a premium listening experience similar to Apple Music.

Industry Trends and Alternatives

With Apple Music and YouTube Music currently priced at $10.99/month for individual plans, Amazon’s new rates align with its competitors. However, these changes hint at a broader trend, and Apple and YouTube may soon follow with similar price hikes.

If you’re frustrated by rising subscription fees, there’s always the option to invest in physical records or digital downloads to avoid the ongoing increases.
