It was reported earlier that amid Coronavirus outbreak Amazon hires new employees due to surge in online ordering, however, later Amazon took measures to control the spread of disease, the company limited orders but the delivery time was also maintained. Now due to wide-spread and growing critical conditions all over Europe and America, more people order essential items such as food or drugstore products from Amazon. To avoid bottlenecks, the retail giant is now prioritizing such orders. For other product categories, delivery times of up to one month can therefore occur.
In times of the corona crisis and the resulting isolation, certain products are particularly popular among consumers. The effects do not only affect Aldi, Lidl, Tesco, Asda and Amazon, the retail company, is currently receiving significantly more orders for household items, food or hygiene items.
In order to continue to meet the high demand for such products, Amazon has decided to prioritize the important product groups in the future. Food, drugstore products and the like should arrive quickly at the customer even with an increased number of orders.
Conversely, this also means: For products that are not prioritized by Amazon, delivery times can now be significantly longer, which Amazon also indicates with a banner on product pages.
Amazon is currently prioritizing products from the following categories:
According to Amazon, the priority delivery will continue until April 5, 2020.
