Amazon To Hire New 100,000 Workers As Online Ordering Surges Due To Coronavirus

A US-based e-commerce company Amazon Inc. has announced on Monday that the company would hire as many as 100,000 warehouses and delivery workers in the United States.

The company said that it would hire workers to tackle a surge in the online orders, as the consumer shop heavily fearing the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country.

It said that online orders have been increased as people do not want to visit the markets due to the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus.

The company, in its statement, said that it would invest more than 350 million US dollars to raise the pays for the employees in the United States and $2 an hour for the Canadian employees, 2 pounds for the workers in the United Kingdom (UK), and around 2 euros in the European Union.

It is worth mentioning here that Amazon currently pays $15 an hour for the workers in its fulfillment centers in the United States (US).

On the other hand, in order to play their roles to fight against the coronavirus, the leading tech giants in the world Facebook Inc, Alphabet Inc.’s Google, Microsoft Corp., Twitter Inc., and Reddit have joined hands to provide accurate information regarding coronavirus and the illness it causes.
