AMD Adrenalin Edition fixes driver problem and Windows BSOD bug

AMD has now released a new version after it became aware of significant Windows problems caused by the Adrenalin driver. AMD previously warned about the issue that can cause the operating system to crash. The new version number is 22.40.37.01 for Windows 10 and Windows 11. The update is already available.

The problem was triggered by a previous update: According to reports, the errors primarily appeared as soon as a new Windows update was to be installed or when the “Factory Reset” option was active.

Fixed BSOD and timeouts

As soon as a user tried to load and install the driver and general Windows update at the same time, unforeseen problems occurred, which led to the so-called blue screen of death (BSOD) for some users. As we have already reported on the reported errors, in some cases only using the Windows automatic recovery tools to solve the problem helped. Other users could only escape the bug by reinstalling Windows. All AMD users are now strongly recommended to update, also because there are security-related changes.

• High idle power consumption was occasionally observed when using select high-resolution and high refresh rate displays on Radeon RX 7000 Series GPUs.
• Some extended display configurations on Radeon RX 7000 GPUs may experience stuttering or performance degradation during gameplay and video playback.
• Some virtual reality games or applications may experience slower than expected performance on Radeon RX 7000 GPUs.
• Some AMD graphics products such as the Radeon RX 6700 XT may experience brief display glitches when switching between video and game windows.
• Connection errors or a black screen may occur when using the Parsec client with AMD decoder settings.
• Application crash may occur when playing UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves Collection on some AMD graphics products such as the Radeon RX 6700 XT.
• On some AMD graphics products, such as B. the Radeon RX 6600M, the size of the Performance Metrics overlay can temporarily change across the entire screen. As a temporary workaround, users experiencing this are advised to disable the Performance Metrics Overlay.
• The Performance Metrics Overlay may have some missing units when enabled or may be truncated after changing the display’s scaling settings.
