AMD RX 6950 XT Leaked Specifications Confirms More Power Than 6900 XT

As the release date draws nearer for the forthcoming AMD RDNA 2 refresh More leaks leak out regarding new models of the newly released Radeon RX 6000 cards. We first got what we believe to be authentic benchmarks on the most powerful RX 6950 XT in its form of synthetic tests. Then, we got alleged gaming figures, including ray-tracing, which were also revealed.

Today today, VBIOS (VGA BIOS) information of the 6950 XT was leaked accidentally by TechPowerUp who manages the vBIOS database of different Radeon as well as GeForce GPUs. The link was removed from TechPowerUp’s website, a Chiphell forum member quickly spotted it, and VideoCardz was able to capture photos of two six of the 6950 XT aftermarket AIB versions.

The leaked vBIOS information reveals two intriguing pieces of information about the Radeon RX 6950XT. The first is that the new GPU isn’t modeled upon its predecessor Navi 21 XTXH processor, which was used by AMD before for its high-end enthusiast 6900 XT versions. It is instead a brand-new chip that is reportedly dubbed “Navi 21 KXTX”.

The memory subsystem of the brand new KXTX chip appears to be more flexible than the earlier 6900 XT GPU since it is said to support both Samsung and Hynix GDDR6 memory instead of just Samsung GDDR6. Other than minor differences in performance and the fact that the memory is sourced from two suppliers should assist AMD to keep a good stock of memory for its Radeon RX 6950 XT which can make it easier to keep the cost of the GPU affordable.
