Among us: server unavailable for days after DDoS attack

Players of the multiplayer title Among Us have not had a chance to compete against other participants for several days. The game’s servers are no longer accessible after a DDoS attack. The developers are currently still working to fix the problem. On Friday night, some players informed the developers that there were problems with the multiplayer game’s servers.

Shortly afterward, it was no longer possible to connect to the servers and participate in online rounds. The game is currently unavailable as the servers have become the target of a DDoS attack. Developer studio Innersloth has added “servers down” to the name of the official Among Us Twitter account to notify players of the issue.

Servers in North America and Europe Offline

Since some players are tasked with sabotaging their fellow players in a round, the developers tweeted that it was sabotage. Only servers in North America and Europe are affected by the attack. In other regions, the game can be played normally. It is currently unclear when the servers will resume normal operation. The developers have been working on restoring the online features for a few days now. It is currently unclear which hacker group is behind the attack on Among Us.

DDoS attacks are difficult to prevent because the servers are bombarded with packets from numerous locations. Above a certain number, the requests can no longer be answered in time, so regular player requests can no longer be processed. In many cases, large botnets are used for DDoS attacks.
