The One UI 6 update was released for the Galaxy A14 5G among the first Samsung phones, much ahead of some of the company’s flagship and more costly mid-range models. Since the update’s first release at the end of November last year, Samsung has been gradually but steadily increasing its global availability.
After receiving Android 14 and One UI 6 earlier this week in the US, the Galaxy A14 5G is finally receiving an upgrade in Europe. In 2023, the A14 5G was one of the best-selling smartphones in Europe. Firmware version A146PXXU5CWL7 designates Android 14 for the Galaxy A14 5G. It is available for download over the air in 1.7GB chunks. It is to be expected that the download size is significantly smaller than that of higher-end Galaxy phones.
It’s possible that some of the features Samsung lists in the changelog aren’t present on the phone. One such instance is the new security feature called Auto Blocker, which came with One UI 6. After updating, you won’t find it on your A14 5G, and you can’t get to it through the Galaxy Store either, but things might change eventually.
Nevertheless, One UI 6 and Android 14 include a ton of new features that will enhance your regular user experience. Open the phone’s Settings app>Software Update>Download, and install to start the update. As always, even though these updates never fail to complete completely, make sure you utilize a Wi-Fi connection or a data plan with enough bandwidth, keep the phone charged to at least 20%, and back up any vital data.
