Android Auto Revamps Music Player with Sleek New Design

Google is rolling out a fresh update to Android Auto, featuring a redesigned music player as part of version 13.4. This upgrade brings notable user interface improvements, marking one of the platform’s most significant changes in recent times.

The updated music player now places album art on the left side, creating more space for the track progress bar. This new layout features the song title, artist name, and time markers below the progress bar, all displayed in slightly smaller text to fit seamlessly. Additionally, playback control buttons have been adjusted to span the entire width of the display, maintaining a familiar yet modernized look.

Android Auto prioritizes consistency across audio apps, meaning users can expect the same design whether they’re navigating through Spotify, Apple Music, or other services. This reduces the need to learn new layouts for each app, enhancing ease of use while driving. Alongside these updates, Android Auto has introduced Material You accent colors and an updated font for a contemporary aesthetic across the platform.

While this redesign improves the user experience, it hints at future developments from Google, like the anticipated “Car Media” feature, which could allow Android Auto to play local media directly from vehicles.
