Apple AirPods Pro 2 May Have A Complete New Design

The rumors about redesigned second-generation Apple AirPods Pro are intensifying, while the predicted market launch is becoming more and more distant. It could be a year before new ANC headphones are introduced without their familiar “stem” design.

The often well-informed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo assumes that Apple will launch the second generation of AirPods Pro headphones by the end of the next year 2022. According to Kuo, the chances are good that the Californian manufacturer will say goodbye to its distinctive “stem” design and that the AirPods Pro 2 could visually approximate the Beats Fit Pro or the Beats Studio Buds, among others. Both are also made in-house.

AirPods Pro 2 release delayed

It is not yet clear when exactly the new in-ear headphones with active noise cancellation will be launched. While experts recently assumed a release in the first or second quarter of 2022, the forecasts are now oriented into the third or fourth quarter mentioned at the beginning. The prospects for technical innovations are just as poor. Except for possibly integrated fitness functions with new sensors and improved audio and radio chips, the analysts are reluctant to provide detailed information.

It was not until October 2021 that Apple expanded its headphone portfolio to include the classic third-generation AirPods, which, unlike the Pro model, do without a direct in-ear design (with rubber attachments) and Active Noise Canceling (ANC). The AirPods 3 adopted the Pro design with slightly shortened “stems” and operated by pressing them. As an entry-level model, Apple also kept the AirPods 2 in its range, which is currently being sold at a price of 149 euros (RRP).
