Apple Announced New Managing Director For China

Apple Inc the world’s leading smartphone manufacturer announced on Wednesday that the company has appointed a new Managing director for China—the role is newly created in order to penetrate the Chinese market effectively by localizing products and services and complying with governmental regulations on foreign companies.

This is, in fact, are very good decision by Apple, the company has been mulling for long to overcome the decreasing popularity in China, Apple and Samsung have dropped from top two smartphones to 4th and 6th in Chinese market respectively.

Isabel Ge Mahe, has been promoted to catch up with the new role in China, fluently Mandarin speaking Isabel has worked in Apple wireless technology for nine years, will now be the managing director in China to oversee the operations in China, Apple said in a statement.

CEO Tim Cook said, “We look forward to making greater contributions in China business under her leadership”, Apple is seriously looking to invest more and secure future growth in China, the world’s largest market on earth.

The announcement comes after Chinese government has passed new laws that require foreign companies to store data locally in partnership with local companies.

Apple has also announced to open a data center in Guizhou province in partnership with the local company, Apple will invest $1 billion in this project, third parties and outsiders would not be able to access this data saved locally.

The new MD Isabel has previously worked on Chinese based projects, she worked in collaboration with Chinese telecom to develop country-specific functions, SMS fraud detection, QR codes support that is widely used in China for making payments online.

Isabel said in a statement, “We are looking to strengthen our relations with government, customers, and Chinese businesses in order to promote innovations and long-term sustainability.”
