Apple Beats Xiaomi and Becomes Top Wearable Seller

Apple has regained its top position in the wearable market, beating Xiaomi. Apple shipped 3.9 million units in third quadrant 2017. In the second quadrant of 2017, Xiaomi got ahead of Apple by shipping 3.7 million units but it has been beaten now as per new research data by Canalys. Apple shipped 2.8 million units last year, same time and this year in Q3 it has shipped 3.9 million units.

It must be noted here that Apple has now gained 23% market share of wearable. This is more than 21% market share for Xiaomi.

Apple launched Watch Series 3 LTE a few months back. 800,000 shipments are marked of this watch as per Canalys. The watch became famous for having LTE support that offered faster internet usage to the users.

Jason Low, an analyst of Canalys said, “Strong demand for the LTE-enabled Apple Watch Series 3 has dispelled service providers’ doubts about the cellular smartwatch not appealing to customers.”

Apple’s watch was expensive but its features compelled users to buy it. Xiaomi and Fitbit are right behind Apple in Q3 2017 shipments by shipping 3.6 million and 3.5 million wearable bands respectively. Huawei and Samsung market share is 6% and 5% respectively in Q3 2017.
