Apple Could Launch a 27-Inch Mini-LED Display by 2025

Apple is reportedly working on a 27-inch mini-LED display that might debut as early as late 2025, according to display analyst Ross Young. This new display could be a revamped version of the Studio Display, which was first launched in 2022. The current Studio Display uses a 5K LED panel, so the introduction of mini-LED technology would mark a significant upgrade.

Young claims the display will feature mini-LEDs supplied by Epistar, with LG Display providing the panels. Back in 2023, Young suggested that Apple had been developing a Studio Display Pro with ProMotion technology, but the project was reportedly scrapped. At the time, he said Apple wasn’t pursuing another 27-inch display, though analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has consistently stated that Apple plans to release a new display in 2025.

Apple already uses mini-LED technology in its MacBook Pro lineup, which showcases the advantages of this technology. Mini-LED displays offer improved brightness, contrast, and color accuracy compared to traditional LED panels. For example, the MacBook Pro screen utilizes over 10,000 mini-LEDs, delivering richer blacks, better shadow detail, and enhanced highlights.

Adding to the speculation, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has also confirmed that Apple is working on a 27-inch mini-LED display. However, Gurman believes the release could slip into 2026.

If these reports hold true, Apple’s move to incorporate mini-LED technology into a 27-inch display will undoubtedly be an exciting development for professionals and creatives alike.
