Apple could skip the pill cutout in the iPhone 16 Pro

According to some recent pieces of information, the Cupertino-based tech firm could skip the pill cutout in the upcoming iPhone 16 series. This information comes from Majin Bu. According to his information, the company might introduce the iPhone 16 Pro without a pill cutout. In simple words, Apple uses the term Dynamic Island to refer to the pill cutout.

In contrast to this, the display analyst, Ross Young, claims that, similar to the iPhone 15 series, all four models of the iPhone 16 series will feature Dynamic Island. In this scenario, the company could opt for a different or modified name for the standard display camera hole or keep using the same. It can, in fact, expand a small user interface from that hole just as it can from a pill-shaped one.

Of course, Ross Young was talking about a pill-shaped cutout when he declared that “the Dynamic Island stays.” Thus, it’s unlikely that Apple will release the one iPhone 16 Pro prototype that has a single display camera hole.

The Pro models will feature larger displays

There is a possibility that all models of the upcoming iPhone 16 series will feature the pill cutout. On the other hand, some reports suggest that the Pro models will include a large 6.3-inch display panel whereas the iPhone 15 Pro features a 6.1-inch display. The iPhone 16 Pro Max will possibly feature a 6.9-inch panel in contrast to the 6.7-inch panel found on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The Pro model of the iPhone 17 series could feature significant design changes

However, with the iPhone 17 series in 2025, we might expect even more significant changes. Ross Young stated last month that the vanilla models will receive a screen size increase to bring them in line with the “Pro” versions. Besides this, the vanilla models will feature Dynamic Island.

The Pro models might experience significant design changes, like a display camera hole. In essence, Apple is going to hide its Face ID technology beneath the display, leaving the hole for the camera alone. Therefore, even though Apple is now developing a punch-hole form, the change is probably coming around 2025.
