Apple folding screen prototypes project is on hold for now

According to a report by a Chinese blogger, Apple’s prototype folding screen failed company tests. They proceed to assert that “the project has been temporarily shelved,” yet it’s highly likely that they’ve misinterpreted the most likely scenario.

Prototypes of Apple’s folding screens

According to a source from earlier this month, Apple has been receiving folding screen samples from panel suppliers Samsung and LG for review; the most recent examples are between 7-8 inches in size. Whether Apple is prioritizing a folding iPad or an iPhone, as well as the extent to which they can be considered interchangeable, is unknown at this time. Most of you who responded to our survey preferred an iPad mini-sized gadget that unfolds to resemble an iPhone Pro.

According to a later story, Apple reportedly has two “active” prototypes that fold like clamshells, but it was worried about a noticeable wrinkle. Apple is reportedly developing methods to lessen the crease that develops in the center of the display after several folds. To enable customers to fully engage with the screen and draw on it with peripherals like the Apple Pencil, the firm needs the gadget to lie totally flat.

After failing tests, prototypes were “temporarily shelved.”

Chinese blogger Fixed Focus Digital asserts that the initiative has been put on hold for now. Apple is developing folding screen goods at a faster pace and has acquired many devices from partners for disassembly research. It’s said, though, that the project has been put on hold indefinitely since the display didn’t pass testing.
