Apple Has Ceased Signing iOS 17.2, Making Downgrading Impossible

According to some recent pieces of information, the Cupertino-based tech giant Apple has stopped the signing of the iOS 17.2 update. The recent development was recorded last night. In simple words, it is now impossible for iPhone customers to downgrade to that version of iOS in the future. After iOS 17.2.1, a bug-fixing update was released on December 19, and iOS 17.2 is no longer signed.

Well, this is not strange at all since the company stops signing old versions once the new updates are rolled out. This practice is used to inspire consumers to use the most recent versions of the operating system. Furthermore, when access to old versions is denied, users are prevented from using the less secure versions of iOS.  

The Journal app and spatial video recording were made available on Pro models of the iPhone 15 series with the iOS 17.2 update. Moreover, the update improved Messages, Apple Music, and more. However, the company didn’t share any details regarding the bug fixes that were part of iOS 17.2.1. The company is already working on the iOS 17.3 update. Notably, the company pulled out the beta version of iOS 17.3, possibly due to a boot loop issue. We hope that it will be fixed soon. It is expected to be released at some point in January 2024.
