In the run-up to tomorrow’s Apple keynote, rumors about the iPhone 12 and its features are growing. The iOS smartphone should have a faster Face ID sensor, improved camera zoom, and longer battery life.
Twitter leaker Pine, loudly behind the Macrumors hidden former XDA-Developers Editor Max Weinbach, not only the leaked confirms iPhone 12 information of the last days but also provides new forecasts on the specifications of the expected models. Among other things, the so-called “Dynamic Zoning Algorithm” should ensure that face recognition via Face ID is faster. The notch, known since the iPhone X, is retained in this case and is only supposed to appear in a horizontally more compact form in the Apple iPhone 12 Mini (5.4 inches).
Software improvements under iOS 14 should continue to improve the digital zoom of the iPhone 12 family, while the Pro (Max) flagships should also increase in terms of optical zoom. These could also have a kind of macro camera, which is to be implemented using improved lenses and sensors of the ultra-wide-angle camera. Finally, a larger aperture should help to improve the photo quality for recordings in poor light conditions (low-light performance). The Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max should be able to best exploit all of the advantages mentioned.
Last but not least, Weinbach talks about the battery life of the new smartphones. He assumes that Apple will allow the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max models to be at least an hour longer away from the socket. The iPhone 12 Mini, on the other hand, could do worse than the current iPhone 11, mainly due to its more compact size. Apple is known to leave rumors of this kind, which are to be viewed with a certain skepticism, in the room without comment.
