Apple intends to make iPad bezels smaller, just like the iPhone 15 Pro models

A few days back we learned that the Cupertino-based tech company is reducing the bezels on its future iPhone 15 Pro models. Reportedly, the company will utilize a dedicated manufacturing process to make the bezels small. As per the information provided by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company intends to use similar technology on its future iPads in order to shrink the screen borders.

Basically, Apple is using the LIPO or low-injection pressure over-molding tech to reduce the size of the display border on the Pro models of the iPhone 15 series. Bloomberg states in his Power On newsletter that the current iPhone Pro models feature 2.2mm display border size whereas the upcoming Pro models will feature 1.5mm.

The iPhone 15 Pro versions may feature the smallest bezels of any smartphone now on the market, assuming Apple can avoid the stated manufacturing issues. Apple is reportedly eager to achieve a similar feat with its iPads as well. Gurman reports that the company initially utilized LIPO on the Apple Watch Series 7. The result was reduced borders and increased display size.

If we assume this information to be true, then LIPO will follow the same course as OLED display tech. initially, the company introduced the OLED display tech on the Apple Watch. Later on, it was carried on to iPhone and now eventually to OLED iPads that are anticipated to debut next year. Currently, there is no information about which iPad model will be the first one to feature LIPO tech.

Some rumors suggest that the iPhone 15 series will feature slightly curved bezels around the edges just like the iPhone 11 series. Some other rumors indicate that bezel reduction would only feature on the Pro models of the series. However, some other reports indicate that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus might also feature slightly thinner bezels.
