Apple is Reportedly planning Magic Mouse 3

Apple is apparently planning a new edition of its Magic Mouse. According to rumors, the revised input device will come onto the market at the end of 2026 and will feature an ergonomic design and more. However, these rumors should be viewed with some caution.

Apple’s Magic Mouse before the redesign

Apple’s Magic Mouse has been part of many Mac users’ inventory for years. But despite their popularity, there is always criticism of the ergonomics and the impractical charging port on the bottom. There are now increasing indications that Apple is working on a fundamentally improved version.

According to earlier information from well-known Apple analyst Mark Gurman, Apple’s design team has been intensively working on prototypes for a new Magic Mouse for several months. The goal is to develop an input device that better suits the modern computer world and at the same time addresses long-standing criticisms. The focus is primarily on improved ergonomics.

How 9to5Mac now citing the Korean leaker yeux1122 reports, the new Magic Mouse 3 is expected to come onto the market at the end of 2026. The timing would coincide with the expected launch of new MacBook Pro models with OLED displays. This would be around two years after the recent update to USB-C on the current Magic Mouse 2.

Although concrete details about the new design are still scarce, many users are primarily hoping for the charging port to be relocated. The current position at the bottom of the mouse prevents it from being used while charging – a long-standing point of criticism. An ergonomic shape that fits better to the hand is also on the wish list of many Mac users.

Rumors about voice control

There has recently been speculation in some media reports that the new Magic Mouse could be equipped with voice control. However, these rumors turned out to be a misunderstanding. The source of the information referred only to Gurman’s original report on adapting the design to modern input methods such as touchscreens, voice commands and hand gestures. It is therefore unlikely that Apple will actually integrate voice control into the mouse.
