Apple Launches VisionOS Developer Tools

After the presentation at WWDC, things are getting started: Developers now have access to the new software development kit for VisionOS. An application phase for the developer versions of the Apple Vision Pro is also starting.

Apple announced this yesterday. Developers who want to develop apps for the Apple VR system, which will be available in stores next year, can now get started and implement their ideas.

The visionOS SDK is available for registered developers on the Apple website. In order to actually be able to try out the apps with Apple Vision Pro, there will be special hardware. Apple has announced a developer version of the Apple Vision Pro and will initially make it available in a kind of lottery. Developers can now apply for the test hardware.

Apple’s Statement

“The Apple Vision Pro redefines what’s possible on a computing platform. Developers can start developing VisionOS apps using the powerful frameworks they already know. They can start developing with new innovative tools and technologies like Reality Push Composer Pro even further to design completely new experiences for users,” said Susan Prescott, vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations at Apple.

“By leveraging the environment around users, spatial computing opens up new possibilities for our developers. It lets them find new ways to connect users, be productive, and entertain in a whole new way We can’t wait to see what our developer community comes up with.”

Special Developers Lab In Various Countries

In addition, the first live sessions for developers in Germany will start shortly. Apple will come to Munich with the complete developer kit and present the VR technology there in a “developer lab”. Such developer labs will also open in Cupertino, London, Shanghai, Singapore, and Tokyo.

All well-known Apple applications from Xcode and SwiftUI to RealityKit, ARKit, and TestFlight are also used for app development.
