Apple MacBook Air And MacBook Pro Comes With New M1 ARM Chip

The US manufacturer Apple is now starting its next platform transformation in a very practical way. As the first computer with the new M1 ARM Chip, the company today showed corresponding versions of the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.

MacBook Air completely silent

Apple first converted its best-selling model in recent years to the new architecture. In the Air class, in particular, the energy-saving chip is in good hands anyway. Because with the ARM-based processors you not only have SoCs with low power consumption but also with low heat generation. The new MacBook Air, therefore, works without a fan.

According to Apple, the M1 chip takes the computer, which is already equipped with a decent runtime, a step further. The manufacturer specifies running times of up to 15 hours for web use and up to 18 hours of video playback. So far, Apple is known for its mostly realistic runtime specifications. The importance of video communication, which has grown in recent months, has not been met by Apple with an upgraded webcam, it remains at 720p.

Long-term MacBook Pro

In addition, Apple is sufficiently convinced of the qualities of its new chip that it is taking the first step into the Pro class. In addition to the MacBook Air, the 13-inch version of the MacBook Pro has also been converted to the new architecture. There has always been room for a more powerful battery in the somewhat larger cases so that you can even use the web for 17 hours and watch 20 hours of video.

Both MacBook variants are available with 8 and 16 gigabytes of RAM. The integrated SSDs allow capacities from 256 gigabytes to 2 terabytes. Two Thunderbolt / USB ports with Type-C connectors are available for data and power supply. A jack connection for headphones is also available. The MacBook Air is available from a price of 1100.50 euros. The MacBook Pro starts at 1,412.45 euros. From January 1st, prices will probably rise slightly due to the then rising VAT rates. You can order from Apple immediately, the devices should then be delivered from next week.
