Apple might introduce a cheap Vision headset by the end of 2025

In accordance with the information provided by Mark Gurman, the Cupertino-based tech company might introduce an affordable option for its Vision Pro headset. Since the model will be a cheaper one so it is expected that it will possibly drop the Pro label from its name. it would rather be called Apple Vision or Apple Vision One, says Bloomberg’s Gurman.

Gurman said in his most recent Power On newsletter that he believes Apple is developing a less expensive headset. Well, it looks like the usual two-product strategy of the company. It is similar to the one it uses with iPhones like a normal iPhone and iPhone Pro.

The Vision Pro is expected to be priced at $3,499. Gurman thinks that the company might use cheap alternatives of the twin 4k microLED displays and M2 Apple silicon chips. It could also use fewer cameras. The cheaper option might include a simple headband design. It could not have support for spatial speakers. In this case, users will be required to use AirPods for spatial audio. Besides this, Gurman speculates that the company won’t negotiate on the following factors: “The EyeSight external screen, along with the eye- and hand-tracking system, are as essential to the Apple Vision as a touchscreen is to an iPhone. I would anticipate a less expensive model to retain such features.

Before the unveiling of Apple Vision Pro, several debaters argued about the outward-facing display. According to Apple, the Eyesight feature is a main distinguishing factor from the enclosed AR/VR headset. It permits the users to enjoy a more connected experience. Gurman states that if the company goes by the strategy of less expensive materials for certain parts plus a more streamlined production process, then the price of the headset can be reduced by several hundred dollars.

Back in January, The Information and Bloomberg reported about the cheap version of the company’s spatial computing headset. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the company might introduce two-tiered headset series by the end of 2025.
