Apple offers a free download and installation of developer betas

Over the course of previous years, Apple has restricted the developer beta to developers with a paid account. Well, the paid account cost developers $99 per year. However, the company has recently changed its policy for the recent betas. As per the new changes, there is no restriction for developers. Anyone can sign up for the free version of the Apple Developer program. They will be granted access to beta releases. However, there is just one requirement and that is the requirement of an Apple ID. Using the Apple ID, developers could download the betas.

Even people who are not a part of the Apple Developer Program can now access “OS beta releases” as a resource. Thus, indicating that users with an Apple ID can conveniently download and install the iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and macOS Sonoma betas. They no longer require waiting for the public release of betas. Well, downloading the betas on the main device is a little risky since it can contain several bugs and issues with early software. Apple decided to make Betas free in response to a modification to the beta installation made in iOS 16. In order to prevent people from utilizing profiles and other methods to obtain the beta without being a registered developer, Apple started demanding an Apple ID associated with a developer membership. With the Apple ID link, Apple will now be able to monitor who is downloading the developer betas.
