Apple plans new app according to Xbox model

Apple is preparing the introduction of a new gaming app that is intended to improve the gaming experience on Apple devices. The app will replace the Game Center and should combine games, successes and other content in one place.
Apple’s new gaming offensive starts
Apple takes a new attempt in the gaming area: For the developer conference WWDC, which starts on June 9, 2025, the group wants to present an independent and retreaded gaming app. The new application is to be pre -installed on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV and are released at the same time as iOS 19, MacOS 16 and TVOS 19.
The app will act as a replacement for the current Game Center and bundle various game functions. Users can start games, pursue their success, view leaderboards and access editorial content.
More than just a game launcher
How Bloomberg reports, Apple pursues ambitious goals with the new app. The technology group from Cupertino wants to expand its position in the growing gaming market and at the same time improve the user experience on its devices.
Well -known publisher such as Capcom, Sega, Bandai Namco Entertainment and Konami have already committed themselves as a partner. However, the developers may not publish their Apple Arcade games due to exclusive agreements on other mobile platforms-however, console and PC versions are allowed.
Apple Arcade remains
Apple Arcade is preserved as a subscription service for 6.99 euros per month and continues to access over 200 ad-free premium games without in-app purchases. Optionally, the service can also be bundled in the Apple One package with other services such as iCloud+, Apple Music and Apple TV+. The new gaming app could be particularly interesting for Mac users.
With the introduction of the Apple-Silicon processors, gaming performance on Macs has improved significantly, which enables more demanding games possible. A central gaming platform could further strengthen this trend and develop developers an additional incentive to optimize their games for MacOS.
