Apple Releases iOS 15.1 with New Features for a Range of iPhones

Apple released the new iOS 15.1 today with some additional features. One of the most prominent features of this OS is SharePlay that allows uses to share experiences with others over FaceTime. The new FaceTime also allows users to stream television episodes, movies, and listen to streaming music while connected with friends.

Not all streaming service providers are compatible with this new feature. The ones which are compatible include Disney+, ESPN+, HBO Max, Hulu, MasterClass, Paramount+, Pluto TV, TikTok, and Twitch.

With SharePlay every user has controls to pause, play, rewind, and fast forward the shared content. This feature also adjusts volume with Smart Volume when other members start a conversation while streaming the shared content. According to the changelog, this SharePlay is “an entirely new way to have shared experiences with family and friends in FaceTime.”

The iOS 15.1 rolls out another feature, ProRes that compresses video files without losing much of their quality. This feature is only for iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. This feature is also used for video editing and it supports video resolution of up to 8K.

The new Apple iOS will also keep your vaccination card in the wallet app.

Apple is currently rolling out this new feature to iPhone 13 series, iPhoen12 series, iPhone 11 series, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE (first and second generations), and iPod touch the seventh generation.

To download iOS 15.1 on your compatible device, go to Settings, General, and then Software Update.
