Apple Reportedly Working On AirTags To Track Your Accessories

Apple is reportedly working on a new Bluetooth tracking device which looks like a tile, the device is meant to tag your personal belongings such as keys, wallet for tracking purposes right from your FindMy App.

MacRumors said that Apple is planning to call the device “AirTags” the technology is still very much in working and do not have any details of a release date yet. However, some instances found in iOS 13.2 beta which could lead to more details about the device and how it will work.

AirTags features built-in chips allowing them to connect to the iPhone, it will relay the position of devices that they are attached to. Users would be able to use iPhone, iPad or Mac to track the location of AirTags similar to find missing Apple devices.

AirTags will look like a small tile-like tag with Apple logo on it, users would be able to attach the tags with the adhesive substance on the back of the tags.

After attaching the tags with their personal belongings or the items they care about the users will be able to track the items right from FindMyApp along with Apple devices and friends and family. The address will show up on maps to track the device or item.

The users will also be able to set boundaries for AirTags, the users can mark their home as “Safe Location” and if the item leaves the house the users will get a notification. The users can also share the location with friends and family.

Apple’s analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple would be using ultra-wideband chip in AirTags which will enhance the user experience iOS find functionalities and augmented reality (AR) by offering measurement functions in short distance.  

Apple to Miss Revenue Target Due To Coronavirus

According to Mac Otakara, AirTags can possibly be powered by rechargeable batteries with magnetic wireless charging capabilities which are similar to the magnetic charger used in Apple watch. The AirTags can also be fully waterproof.

There is no estimate on AirTags pricing yet, however, the similar Bluetooth device tacking products are majorly priced between $25 to $35, Apple AirTags could also be priced in this range. According to the various reports, Apple AirTags could be released during the first half of 2020. Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Apple will start supplying this accessory with other products by the second or third half of 2020.
