Apple Starts Production of 7-nanometer A12 processors for 2018 iPhones

Apple’s vendor TSMC (Taiwan Semi-Conductor Manufacturing Company Ltd) which produces chips for Apple iPhones has reportedly started the production of its new 7-nm A12 processors for iPhone to gear up the Apple’s 2018 smartphones line—Bloomberg reported.

The new chip is likely to be named “A12” might be the first 7-nanometer process that will be used in a commercial device. This is something that tech companies have been working for years.

The 7nm technology is far more superior than the current available in the market. The chip made with this technology is supposed to carry different specifications depending on the manufacturer’s choice. The 7nm technology represents the density of transistors on a chip, the smaller process allows chips to be smaller, more efficient and much faster and it could save costs over time.

Samsung bluntly mocks Apple in its latest Advert

The contemporary leading processors on smartphones such as Apple’s A11 and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 are developed with 10nm process.

The new 7nm technology would make the smartphones much faster and handle larger data in the device swiftly, it could also bring many changes in other departments of the smartphone such as camera, video, graphics and others.

Samsung has also announced to start production of 7nm chips by the next year. Samsung however, has produced iPhone chips in the past, they shared they production with TSMC while developing the A9 chip on the iPhone 6S, TSMC has been Apple’s exclusive partner since then and produces SoCs for Apple Inc.
