Reportedly, Apple is taking all the necessary measures to change its global manufacturing strategy. According to some recent pieces of information, the assembly of iPhone 15 has begun in another market. Reportedly, the Cupertino-based tech giant has begun assembling the iPhone 15 in Brazil. Well, this is an effort to diversify the supply chain and alleviate high import taxes.
According to the reports shared by 9to5Mac and MacMagazine, the assembly process has begun at the Foxconn facility in São Paulo. It aims to lower the hefty import taxes that Brazil imposes on electronics, which greatly raise the price of gadgets for local customers.
As of now, there has been no concession in the retail price of the iPhone 15 in Brazil. The 128GB model of the iPhone 15 costs R$7,300 (approximately $1,460) in Brazil. This cost is about twice as much as the device’s initial US price. The program is an integral part of Apple’s larger plan to lessen its reliance on a particular area and diversify its production footprint outside of China.
The company is assembling the 6.1-inch version of the iPhone 15 in Brazil. In contrast to this, the other members of the series: iPhone 15 Plus, Pro, and Pro Max models will be imported from China. Brazilian consumers can determine whether their iPhone 15 was constructed locally by looking up the model number; Brazilian-made devices include the designation “BR/A.” As opposed to this, imported units are indicated by “BE/A” and “BZ/A.”
