Amazfit is showing the new Active 2 smartwatch at CES 2025 with an AMOLED display, extensive fitness features and, above all, an attractive price. The device offers many features of more expensive models, but also has some limitations.
Amazfit introduced its new Active 2 smartwatch at CES 2025. The device positions itself as an inexpensive entry into the world of fitness trackers and smartwatches. With a starting price of 100 US dollars (around 97 euros), the Active 2 is well below the prices of established brands such as Apple, Samsung or Garmin. Despite the low price, the Amazfit Active 2 offers solid features.
The round 1.32-inch AMOLED display achieves a brightness of 2000 nits and is therefore easy to read even in direct sunlight. The case is made of stainless steel, the premium version has a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. Amazfit Active 2: The new budget smartwatch 2025
According to the manufacturer, the Active 2 offers over 160 sports modes, including special modes for skiing and strength training. The latter automatically recognizes repetitions, sets and breaks. The integrated BioTracker 6.0 PPG sensor continuously monitors heart rate, measures blood oxygen saturation and records stress levels. A sleep analysis is also on board. For outdoor activities, the watch has a barometric altimeter and GPS with support for five satellite systems. A special feature is the offline maps with turn-by-turn directions – a function that is usually reserved for significantly more expensive models.
Amazfit specifies the battery life as up to 10 days in normal use. With continuous GPS use, 21 hours should still be possible. This significantly exceeds the runtimes of many premium smartwatches.
Despite the extensive features, there are also limitations. The Active 2 lacks some features that are familiar from high-end smartwatches. There is no way to create an ECG and you will also look in vain for a WiFi connection. There are also said to be problems with the representation of coastlines in the offline maps.
The Amazfit Active 2 is available for pre-order now in the USA and will be available worldwide from February 2025. The standard version costs $100 (around 97 euros) and comes with a red or black silicone strap. For 130 US dollars (around 126 euros) you get the premium version with a black leather strap, sapphire crystal and an additional red silicone strap.
