Apple Watch Series 11 to Warn of Early Signs of High Blood Pressure

The new generation of Apple Watch should warn users if there are signs of high blood pressure. It is not about an exact blood pressure measurement, but about the early detection of possible abnormalities, which should then be clarified by a doctor.

Millions of warnings possible

According to the company, up to 100 million people could be pointed out in just one year thanks to the new function to a previously unrecognized hypertension (high blood pressure). The dimension becomes clear when you illustrate the numbers: According to the health authority CDC, high blood pressure in the USA alone was involved in more than 660,000 deaths, either as a direct or as co -causing component.

How the technology works

The functionality is reminiscent of the sleep apnea feature that Apple introduced with previous smartwatch models. Here, too, there is no exact medical diagnosis and no display of the blood pressure value. Instead, the watch recognizes patterns that could indicate a risk and warns the users accordingly. The Apple Watch has long since established itself as an all-rounder health and fitness helper. Functions such as falling, emergency calls or accident recognition in the car have already been tried and demonstrated and have been proven to save life.

Before the Series 11 is presented, Apple presented numerous such stories in an accompanying film – an effective memory that the watch can not only be a lifestyle gadget, but also a serious instrument in everyday life. In addition to the Series 11, Apple also showed the Apple Watch Ultra 3 at the big iPhone event and a revised version of the cheaper Apple Watch SE. The line-up was supplemented by the Airpods Pro 3, which also received an update.

Innovation inhibitor approval process?

Incidentally, only in the long run Apple apparently strives for real blood pressure measurement. Delays in the necessary permits by health authorities are currently the largest braking factor.
