Apple will offer Vision Pro Development Kits to developers

Apple CEO

After Apple Watch, the recent and new addition to the company’s product portfolio is the Vision Pro headset. It is different from other products of the company. It is based on visionOS operating system. For this reason, developers will be required to develop augmented and virtual reality apps, particularly for the headset.

At some point in the future, Apple intends to offer developers Apple Vision Pro developer kits to ensure that there is a wide range of experiences available at launch. The company states that with the help of development kits, developers will have a chance to offer stuff for Vision Pro. In this way, they could conveniently and swiftly build, test and iterate on the headset.

Well, this is now evident that developers will receive the kits. However, there is no certain timeline for it as yet. Previously, the company offered developer kits for Mac Mini. Mac Mini comes with an Apple silicon chip. The company provided the Mac mini machines for $500. However, developers were required to return the machines by the end of the testing program.

With the new Vision Pro, the company might ask developers to purchase an Apple Vision Pro headset for creating apps. Furthermore, the purchase price in this case will cover access to discussion forums, technical support, beta software, developer labs, and other resources in case the development kit of Apple Vision Pro is similar to the Apple silicon development kit.

Along with providing Apple Vision Pro developer kits, Apple says it will also provide compatibility assessments for already-released apps and an opportunity for developers to visit a Vision Pro developer lab that showcases iOS, visionOS, and iPadOS apps in action. There will be labs in Tokyo, Cupertino, London, Munich, Shanghai, and Singapore.

In July, more details on these tools for creating content for the Vision Pro headset will be accessible. Later this month, the visionOS SDK will be made public.
