Apple’s First Foldable iPhone Could Cost $2,300 or More

In a recent investor research note with British bank Barclays, analyst Tim Long shared an interesting prediction: Apple’s first foldable iPhone could start at around $2,300 in the United States. If true, this would make it the most expensive iPhone ever released.

Twice the Price of Current iPhones

To put this in perspective, the foldable iPhone’s potential $2,299 price tag is nearly double the cost of the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which starts at $1,199. Long’s estimate comes after a visit to Asia, where he and his team met with hardware manufacturers. According to him, there is growing chatter within Apple’s supply chain about a foldable iPhone hitting the market in late 2026 or early 2027. However, Long believes the high price will likely limit its sales volume, which isn’t surprising given the steep cost.

More Analysts Weigh In

Another well-known Apple supply chain analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, recently weighed in on the foldable iPhone’s pricing. Earlier this month, Kuo predicted the device would be priced between $2,000 and $2,500. Despite the hefty price, Kuo remains optimistic about its demand—assuming Apple meets user expectations for quality.

For instance, a foldable iPhone with no visible crease on the screen would be a major draw and could justify the higher price for many users.

What to Expect from the Foldable iPhone

Kuo shared some potential specs for the foldable iPhone:

  • Displays: A 7.8-inch inner screen and a 5.5-inch outer screen
  • Cameras: Two rear cameras and one front-facing camera
  • Security: A Touch ID power button, replacing Face ID
  • Battery: High-density, for long-lasting power
  • Build: Titanium exterior with a hinge made of titanium and stainless steel
  • Thickness: Around 4.5mm when unfolded, and 9-9.5mm when folded

He also mentioned the device would enter mass production in the fourth quarter of 2026.

A Long Wait Ahead

With the foldable iPhone still at least 1–2 years away, these pricing and design details are speculative and subject to change. While analysts like Long and Kuo provide educated guesses, Apple’s final product may differ from these early predictions. Would you invest in a $2,300 foldable iPhone? Let us know your thoughts!
