Apple’s First Foldable iPhone May Be Cheaper Than Expected

With the iPhone Fold, Apple will launch its first foldable smartphone next year. According to a new report, this could surprisingly be significantly cheaper than previously assumed and even undercut the competition.

Price bang on the iPhone fold?

Apple continues to work on its first foldable iPhone, which is expected to be in stores in 2026. The device should be clearly better in two aspects than its competition: a wrinkle -free screen and a particularly stable hinge. So far, analysts had assumed that Apple would also have this quality paid accordingly. Estimates spoke of a price for the iPhone fold of over 2000 euros. However, according to a recent report, the smartphone could be significantly cheaper than previously assumed. In terms of price, it could even be under the competition such as Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold7.

According to an analysis by the Swiss investment bank UBS, that of Fortune cited, the price should be between 1800 and $ 2000. If you look at Apple’s pricing in Europe, the euro prices should be similar. That would still make the iPhone Fold the most expensive iPhone of all time, but it would be priced below the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7, which is currently starting at 2100 euros.

Cheap components and limited production

According to the report, the material costs for Apple’s folding smartphone could be just $ 759 – about four percent less than the $ 790, which Samsung spends on the components of the Galaxy Z Fold SE. This cost savings is possible through cheaper memory modules, processors and camera components.

However, the initial production of the iPhone Fold should be limited. UBS estimates are between ten and 15 million units for the first wave. This cautious approach reflects both the technical complexity of foldable devices and the high price, so far regarded analysts as an essential obstacle for a mass adoption.

Market influence and future prospects

Apple’s expected entry into the market for folding devices in 2026, however, should accelerate the spread of foldables. The devices in Asia are already very popular, but sales in markets such as Europe are still expandable. The UBS analysts believe that Apple’s iPhone Fold can give an impulse that makes foldable smartphones more popular worldwide. Apple’s later introduction to the area of folding devices could even prove an advantage. Because the supply chains have now been mature and important technologies have already been refined. The iPhone Fold could benefit from this and next year with high -quality components will come to the shops at a competitive price.
