Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro Max may potentially experience delays

In the last few days, we have come across several reports regarding the top-end model of the iPhone 15 series. Some reports suggested that the iPhone 15 Pro Max or the iPhone 15 Ultra might be delayed, while others indicated that it would be on time. As of now, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, reports that the top-end model is still behind schedule.

Kuo reported to investors that the mass production of the iPhone 15 Pro Max started way too late compared to the other iPhone 15 models. It is in line with another report that suggests that the Pro Max model might face a delay of 3-4 weeks. According to Kuo, the company is facing problems with the titanium frame that will be a part of the iPhone 15 Pro.

Reportedly, the company is facing challenges with “high processing difficulties and significant design changes during development”. The main contributing element, according to him, was the decision to cancel the solid-state button project. In case you forgot, the iPhone 15 Pro was supposed to be Apple’s first device with solid-state buttons. However, it appears that it was postponed because of production problems.

Other possible reasons for delay

According to Kuo, besides the titanium frames, the stacked CIS, panels, and batteries were other challenges that halted the manufacturing process. Upon exposure to heat, the batteries expanded, which was one major problem. On the other hand, by increasing the production capacity, the issue of stacked CIS was resolved. Besides this, the stacked CIS issue is still hampering 10-15% of shipments of the standard iPhone 15 models.

According to Kuo, the company modified the supplier shipment ratio in order to fix the panel issue. We already know that given the large number of iPhones, the company splits the supply of components between different suppliers. Furthermore, Kuo claims that the inclusion of a titanium frame on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max would reduce the weight. This claim by Kuo is supported by some other reports that emerged earlier this week.
