Apple’s New Entry-Level iPad Gets a RAM Boost

MacRumors has confirmed that Apple’s newly unveiled entry-level iPad comes with more RAM compared to its predecessor, the iPad 10. Powered by the A16 chip, the latest iPad now features 6GB of RAM, as revealed through data from the latest beta of Apple’s developer tool Xcode. This is an improvement from the 4GB of RAM found in the iPad 10, which ran on the A14 Bionic chip.

Comparison

For comparison, other devices with the A16 chip, such as the iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 15, and iPhone 15 Plus, also include 6GB of RAM. However, the new entry-level iPad has slightly scaled-down CPU and GPU specifications. Until now, it was uncertain if this iPad would stick with 4GB of RAM or upgrade to 6GB like its peers.

While the upgraded RAM enhances performance, especially for multitasking, the device does have some limitations. For instance, it won’t support Apple Intelligence, a feature that currently requires at least 8GB of RAM. The new iPad is available for pre-order now and will officially launch on Wednesday, March 12.
