Apple’s Next iPad Pro to Feature Dual Front Cameras and M5 Chip

Apple plans an update of the iPad Pro. In addition to the new M5 chip, this should also receive two front cameras for the first time. The manufacturer probably reacts to user requests and enables comfortable video telephony regardless of the direction of the device.

More flexible video telephony on the iPad Pro

Apple’s current iPad Pro generation is anything but a success story. The tablets with their tandem-oled displays, which were always struggling with representation errors shortly after the start, are bad. The upcoming iPad Pro, which should still appear in the course of the current year, should do better. Apple plans some innovations for this. So the upcoming iPad Pro will be loud Bloomberg analyst Markt Gurman be equipped with two front cameras. One is intended for high and one for landscape format. In the future, users can take photos and take video calls without having to worry about aligning the device. This innovation addresses a long-term problem of the iPad series, because so far the front camera was only optimally positioned for one orientation.

The dual front camera solution is not new in the tablet world. Other manufacturers have already followed similar approaches. For Apple it would be a premiere. One of the challenges will be to integrate both cameras seamlessly into the slim design without affecting the aesthetics.

New chip for more efficiency and AI

In addition, the tablet will probably be equipped with Apple’s new M5 chip. Although this should be an improvement compared to the M4, users should probably not expect groundbreaking performance jumps. The current M4 chip is already very powerful, so the M5 is more of a refinement than a complete revision. Apple is increasingly focusing on energy efficiency and AI acceleration. The M5 chip will probably continue to be manufactured in the three-nanometer process instead of relying on the more advanced two-nanometer technology. Nevertheless, Apple is probably stacking more circuit levels to increase efficiency. This means that the M5 should still offer better performance with lower power consumption.

Artificial intelligence in focus

Together with the new hardware, other functions of “Apple Intelligence” should also move into the upcoming iPad Pro. The features already available include AI supported writing and drawing with the Apple Pencil and “Image Playground” for direct image production in apps. In addition, a revised iPad paper calculator is planned, which combines with the notes app and converts numbers and formulas into real time into dynamic, edible graphics.

This function could be particularly interesting for students and working people who use the iPad Pro for more complex calculations. The mass production of the upcoming iPad Pro is to start at the beginning of the second half of the year. Therefore, experts expect a release of the tablets in September or October 2025. This would also correspond to Apple’s typical cycle of 18 months, in which the company from Cupertino updates its iPads.
