Artificial Intelligence AI may ignite WW3—Warns Elon Musk

CEO of Tesla and Space X Elon Musk seems really concerned about the fair and ethical use of Artificial intelligence (AI), he has been warning tech companies and governments about the destructive power of AI when it is used in autonomous weapons.

Last month, he urged governments and other international organizations like UN to put a ban on using AI in robots making them “Killer Robots” that could kill the human race.

Elon Musk has repeatedly warned the world about the possible escalation of World War in pursuing and gaining superiority in AI. Russian president Vladimir Putin said, “Artificial intelligence is the future not only for Russia but for the whole world, whoever becomes the leader on AI will rule the world.”

In response to Putin’s statement, Elon Musk said in a series of replies on Monday, “North Korea is not a bigger risk to civilization existence, competition for AI superiority at the national level is the most likely cause that could trigger World War in my opinion.”

Currently, US, China and India are the countries leading the AI race according to CNN, Musk believes other countries will catch up soon by any means, governments may not follow the laws if they wish to get hands of AI, they can get AI developed by companies at gunpoint if necessary.

Musk said, AI system could choose to start the war—if it decides that “pre-emptive strike is the most probable way to the victory.”

While Musk continues to warn governments and international organizations to regulate the use of AI properly to keep the world safe, Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg has called Musk’s predictions as “Pretty Irresponsible”.

Musk replied to Zuckerberg statement and said: “the understanding of the issue is limited for Zuckerberg.”
