At WWDC 2024, Apple might reveal its brand-new AI App Store

Apple’s WWDC 2024 is expected to happen in June. We can expect several new announcements and releases. Reportedly, the company could debut an AI App Store at the upcoming developer conference. If this happens, it will be a major shift in Apple’s approach towards AI. Apple has always created its own applications and included AI capabilities into its operating systems. Analyst Ben Reitzes, nevertheless, thinks Apple would create a platform that will include AI apps from different developers.

Apple’s prior success with app stores such as iTunes and the iPhone App Store is reflected in this strategy. Apple persuaded other businesses to join these platforms in addition to selling their own items. According to Reitzes, at WWDC the company will explain how AI apps can be purchased. Apple’s AI assistant, Siri, may be available in the new App Store in addition to products from rival developers.

When it comes to an AI App Store, the recent report referring to Apple is not something new. A similar model has been proposed by other analysts. According to them, the company could hold internal discussions about it at the upcoming developers conference. Besides this, there are reports suggesting that the company might have discussed the new approach with Google and Baidu in an effort to incorporate their AI services to the AI App Store.

Gemini AI from Google exists in form of a standalone app. It could easily fit within an AI App Store. We’ll have to wait and watch if Apple reveals its new AI strategy at WWDC, which is anticipated to take place in early June.
