Audi Introduces Apple Digital Car Key Support in A6 Avant e-tron

Audi has officially rolled out support for Apple’s digital car key feature in its latest A6 Avant e-tron model. This marks the first time Apple Car Keys is available on Audi’s electric car platform, a significant move toward more seamless vehicle access (via Mac4Ever).

What is Apple Car Key?

Apple’s Car Keys feature allows users to unlock their car using an iPhone or Apple Watch equipped with NFC capabilities. A digital car key is stored securely in the Wallet app, and unlocking is as simple as tapping your iPhone or Apple Watch near the car’s NFC reader.

For added security, users can enable Face ID authentication. However, for those who prefer speed, Apple offers an Express Mode that skips authentication for quick access. Just tap the door handle, and you’re in!

Expanding Audi’s Electric Portfolio

The Audi A6 Avant e-tron is the second vehicle to launch on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) platform, which Audi shares with Porsche.
