AVM has released new maintenance updates with bug fixes and improvements for the FritzBox 7690, 6591, 6591 and 6660 Cable. We have compiled all relevant details about the updates.
The new firmware for these devices is now available as an automatic update or alternatively for download from Manufacturer website available. The list of changes is relatively long, although AVM only speaks of a maintenance update. This is probably because AVM had already released FritzOS 8.0 for the cable models and is now following up with 8.01 with many bug fixes and improvements.
However, the update for the FritzBox 7690 skips 8.0 and comes with new features and bug fixes. We have added the changes at the end of the article. All information about the update as well as tips for the update can be found on the Company download page. There you select your device and receive all the important information.
The new FritzOS also brings improvements in terms of security. AVM writes about this on the website where all details about the updates are published: “With every new FritzOS update, AVM also updates the security functions and therefore generally recommends carrying out the update for all devices.”
The new version can now be downloaded via the AVM website or installed as an online update via the user interface. To do this, start the user interface in the Internet browser under “fritz.box” and use the assistant to search for an update. There you will find information about the new version under “Update” or “Update firmware”. You confirm the download and the installation then runs automatically.
